If you wanted an early season game where Nebraska would come into Pinnacle Bank Arena and curb stomp the visiting opponent, than this would make you quite happy. The Huskers sent the Mean Green of North Texas Home 86 to 67.

The first half saw Nebraska take to the boards early. Leading by as many as 23 points in the first ten minutes. North Texas had little response and the Huskers had their way with the Mean Green until half.

The second half the Huskers were slowed down a bit by fouls from North Texas and a drop off in shooting from the Big Red. Three North Texas fouled out before the game was over and the Huskers spent a lot of time at the free throw line.

While their progress was limited, Nebraska did not have a problem losing their lead. North Texas might have picked up their aggressiveness but nothing was improved in regards to scoring production. The lead did not deviate much more than 19 to 17 points at a time.

This was a fun night in regards to stats. Five total Huskers scored in double digits with James Palmer Jr. Scoring 18 points, Glynn Watson Jr. with 15 points, Evan Taylor with 12. Coming off the bench Nebraska had Isiah Roby with 12 points and Jack McVeigh with 11. In total, 11 Huskers scored by the end of the night.

On defense we saw forward Isaac Copeland with 4 blocked shots, 8 rebounds, and 1 steal. James Palmer Jr. came away with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Huge games from two of our best transfers.

In the end Nebraska shot 40% from the floor while North Texas shot 39%. The Mean Green did do better than the Huskers from beyond the arch going 6 of 16 while Nebraska shot 5 of 17. It was the only stat they lead the Huskers with by the end of the game.

Nebraska is now 2-0 on the year. The Huskers next head to New York City on Thursday where they will take on St. Johns in the Gavitt Tipoff Games. The game will be at 5:30pm on FS1.
