Flakes: Volleyball, CN Staff Meeting, and #RamonaUpdates

There is a big match tonight for volleyball, the CN staff says goodbye to one of their own, and there are monkeys loose in Ohio.

It is a light Corn Flakes today as I am working on a short night of sleep after attending Brian’s visitation yesterday and the Corn Nation “staff meeting” over dinner. Brian’s funeral is this morning in Lincoln. Godspeed Mr. Towle.

Below is some of the CN crew. Left to right: Zach (student section writer), David (former photographer), Ty (the tall guy in the back, volleyball writer), Matt (SB Nation college football manager). At the top of the steps is Hoss, X’s and O’s writer. Dear Leader Jon is holding a beer (full disclosure: he never did finish that beer) and in the white shirt is Evan. (You probably don’t know Evan because he joined us for only a short time this fall but had to leave after he obtained a paying job which would have been a conflict of interest with CN.) The crew is in Robber’s Cave beneath Blue Blood Brewery. Cobby felt right at home.

The volleyball team has a big test tonight vs #14 Michigan State. The match starts at 7 pm (central) and will be televised on BTN2Go and NET (if you are in Nebraska). Live audio will be carried on Huskers.com.

These are the last two undefeated (in conference play) teams left in the Big Ten. Both have dealt losses to highly ranked Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Huskers completed this impressive feat at home last weekend while Michigan State did it on the road. Can this young Husker team keep up their high level of play or are they due for a “huh, what?” performance?

I think we are going to have an open thread for the match tonight. Join us!
