Corn Flakes: Let’s Get Back To Football!

Let’s can the talk about firings for a while, and get back to our beloved Nebraska football team... okay?

I have a request.

How about we get back to football? Specifically, our beloved Nebraska football team.

We have spent the time since the Ohio State game bashing our head coach and speculating (oh how we have been speculating) on his replacement when he hasn't even been fired. It's rather pathetic when you stop and think about it. There will be plenty of time later and there is still a chance that this team wins the majority of its upcoming games which will make for a decent season.

That's something to get excited about, isn't it?

The Tanner Lee to JD Spielman combination could develop into one of the more exciting quarterback to receiver partnerships we've seen in quite a while. It could be historical. Unfortunately, one has to wonder if anyone will notice.

There is still a lot to like about this team. They still need to develop regardless of what happens in the future. Bob Diaco's 3 – 4 defense needs to start playing football and we need to find a defensive star or two.

We are going to find out whether this team has a lot of fight in them come Saturday night at Purdue. I hope they do for their sake. I hope they destroy Purdue so that we can have something good to talk about with regards the football team next week instead of beating the dead horse that is Scott Frost.

I will most likely be instituting a new rule come Saturday with regards to our game threads. I am telling you now in preparation. During our game threads, specifically Nebraska game threads, there will be no talk of firing football coaches. You have all the rest the week to do that. Game threads, again, specifically our Nebraska game threads will be focused on the game at hand. If you wish to talk about firing coaches during the game threads you can go somewhere else or be banned.

If you have been around for a while you know that I am slow to ban people. Unfortunately, I've gotten older and crankier. I don't have the energy or the patience to put up with people whining about our coaches while there is an actual Nebraska football game going on.

Again, this is during Nebraska game threads, while the game is going on. You want to talk about anything before the game or after the game, you are welcome to do so. During the game our game threads will be about the football game, or Jell-O salad, or beer, or whether or not the moon landing actually took place, but they will not become threads of firing.

I ask that you respect the new rule and behave accordingly.

Thank you.
