Corn Flakes: Nebraska Leads The Big Ten West

Enjoy the moment. We’ll find out plenty when Nebraska takes on Wisconsin this weekend.

I’ll be completely honest, I watched very little football over the weekend. I spent it at a reunion, and while I did watch the Nebraska - Illinois game, I did not see much but highlights from other games.

I’m still surprised that Minnesota lost to Maryland because the Terps were down to their last quarterback. The Gophers didn’t play anyone of substance in non-conference and may have looked better than they really were. Still, a fellow Big Ten West opponent loss. Too bad. Now my son can’t text #UNDEFEATED at me.

Iowa lost. Gee, that’s too bad. And Northwestern game Wisconsin a game. I was trying to explain to my old friends that the the difference between the Big Ten and the Big Eight that we grew up with is that the Big Ten has always beaten itself up. This idea that we’re ALWAYS going to beat Northwestern, for example, is outdated and foolish, and needs to be thrown away.

Right now, if you look at the Big Ten West standings, they look like this:

So we have wins over Rutgers and Illinois. They’re still wins. Enjoy the moment. We’ll find out what our team is made of when we get the Badgers this weekend.

Nebraska volleyball had a GREAT weekend, knocking off both Minnesota and Wisconsin to remain undefeated.

I would appreciate more contributions. Thank you.
