Nebraska hired Bill Moos on Sunday and during his introduction to Nebraska fans, it came out that our new athletic director keeps a list in the top drawer of his desk with who he feels are the top 10-15 coaches that fit at the program he’s running, in the event their current head coach’s employment is discontinued.
With a bye week looming, and a fan base reeling from two sobering losses, I thought it would be fun if each of you played ATHLETIC DIRECTOR for an afternoon.
So here’s the deal: who are your top 10-15 coaches that fit the Nebraska job? Post below, and be sure to include 1) a ranking (like any good watch list), 2) explanations if you want, and 3) what kind of medium your list is on (legal pad, crumpled Cheesecake Factory napkin, encrypted flash drive, carved in bone, etc.)
We can start with my list, because why not?
- Gary Patterson (TCU HC)
- David Shaw (Stanford HC)
- Dino Babers (Syracuse HC)
- Kyle Whittingham (Utah HC)
- Scott Frost (UCF HC)
- Ken Niumatalolo (Navy HC)
- Justin Wilcox (Cal HC)
- Mike MacIntyre (Colorado HC)
- Joe Moorhead (PSU OC)
- Doug Meacham (TCU OC)
- Dave Aranda (LSU DC)
- Dave Doeren (NC State HC)
- Jeff Monken (Army HC)
- Matt Canada (LSU OC)
- Bryan Harsin (BSU HC)
My list is on one of those printed cakes you can get at Kroger or HyVee. Chocolate cake, white buttercream frosting. There is red and white piping up and down the sides of the cake.
How about yours?
NOTE: This is not about arguing about the current head coach’s fitness to run Nebraska. This is about compiling a watch list of head coaches that could probably succeed at Nebraska. Please don’t make this about Riley any more than you have to. <3
