Nebraska basketball isn’t seen by many in making up much ground from last year. At least according to the Big Ten media members.
The Huskers were picked 13th out of the 14 Big Ten basketball teams for this upcoming season. Beating out only Rutgers in the poll.
The poll of 24 writers gave their opinion on how they think the conference basketball season should shape up. Chris Basnett of the Lincoln Journal Star and Lee Barfknecht were the two writers from Nebraska voting. The poll was done by the Columbus Dispatch and The Athletic.
The voting breakdown is as follows:
1. Michigan State
2. Purdue
3. Minnesota
4. Northwestern
T-5. Maryland
T-5. Michigan
7. Wisconsin
8. Iowa
9. Indiana
10. Penn State
11. Ohio State
12. Illinois
13. Nebraska
14. Rutgers
One way to look at this is there is only one way to go and that is up. The Huskers lost their top scorer to graduation and a handful of transfers that could have seen significant time this upcoming season. However, they do have quite a bit of talent coming in from transfers that might raise a few eyebrows and drive the Big Red up the rankings.
