Corn Flakes: Packers Win Over Cowboys Makes Up For All The Badness Of The Weekend

There was good news, there was bad news, but the Packers win brought it all together for a good weekend. How was yours?

It was a pretty good weekend.

Nebraska football got a new defensive coordinator, and at least at first glance it looks like a good hire. There may be some changes coming that will make it difficult to be really successful on defense this coming season but if the coaching staff can survive for the long haul the defense should improve over time.

In bad news the Nebraska basketball team lost to Michigan and again that if you watched it you felt like they should have won. They certainly missed Ed Morrow and they did not play defense worth a damn. A win would have been really nice especially if you take a look at the current Big Ten standings.

With a win over Michigan, Nebraska would have been at 4 AM one and at the top of the conference standings with Maryland. Opportunity missed.

In other bad news our dishwasher leaked all over the kitchen floor on Sunday morning and I spent the morning and part of the afternoon tearing it apart to find a toothpick lodged in the output valve, jamming it shut. I am not 100% certain that we need to go get a new dishwasher but were going to try again and see what happens.

My youngest son turned 18 on Sunday. On Saturday night I got tired of watching another Patriots win and started channel surfing. I chose Cyndi Lauper singing old country tunes on Austin City Limits. (Hey, we all have different tastes, right?)

Just before midnight,my son walked into the room and stated “I only have about 30 seconds of childhood left.” He looked at his watch, then up at the TV, then back at his watch. He paused, and said “Becoming an adult... you haven't changed at all, but you have more responsibilities. Now I'm just more disappointing” and then walked out of the room.

Anything bad that happened over the weekend was canceled out by the goodness of the Green Bay Packers win over the Dallas Cowboys. Here you have a source of all that we value, the true wholesomeness of America, defeating the evil fakery that calls itself “America’s team” when they’re really only Jerry Jones team and a few other misguided souls.

Now if only the Savior that is Aaron Rodgers can continue his winning ways and defeat the devil that is Tom Brady.

How was your weekend?
