Corn Nation's Guide to Husker Fan Events in Chicago

Chicago is a massive hub for Nebraska alumni and Chicagoans for Nebraska always put on a big show when Nebraska makes the trip up to Evanston every two years. Here's a quick guide for Husker fans who want to make the most out of their trip to Chicago this weekend.

Friday

Event: Football Friday

Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Location: Old Crow Smokehouse (River North), 149 West Kinzie Street, Chicago

Directions: Click above for a link to Google Maps. This event is within walking distance from multiple stops on the L (metro). Merchandise Mart (Brown/Purple), Grand (Red), Clark/Lake (Blue/Green/Orange/Pink).

Cost: FREE

Details: Husker Sports Nightly will be broadcasting live from this location so expect it to be a crowded yet family-friendly atmosphere. The Husker Spirit Squad, pep band and mascots (hopefully not Little Red) will be making an appearance along with former Husker players, coaches and special guests (I met Johnny Rodgers at the Miami pre-party last year).

Saturday

Event: Nebraska vs. Northwestern Tailgate

Time: 2:00pm - 6:30pm (kickoff time)

Location: Canal Shores Golf Club, 1030 Central Street, Evanston

Directions: The tailgate is located a short walk from Ryan Field and right next to the Central (Purple) stop on the L. Walk west after exiting the metro station and look for signs to the tailgate.

Cost: $55 (WHITE TICKET includes entry, food buffet and non-alcoholic drinks) or $75 (RED TICKET includes entry food buffet and alcoholic drinks). Details: This tailgate looks awesome! There will be a football combine set up along with flip cup, beer pong and cornhole game stations. Alcohol will be flowing, HD TVs will be showing other college games and a local DJ playing music. More information about the tailgate can be found here.
