The Nebraska Cornhuskers open the 2016 season with a non-conference matchup against Fresno State. The game with the Bulldogs opens Nebraska's second season under Head Coach Mike Riley.
The Huskers return 16 starters from last year's team that capped the season with a victory over UCLA in the Foster Farms Bowl. The Huskers have ample experience on both sides of the ball, returning a four-year starter at quarterback, multiple offensive skill position players and a strong core of experience on defense.
While the Huskers are unranked heading into the season, Nebraska did receive votes in both the USA Today and Associated Press preseason polls.
Fresno State posted a 3-9 record last season, including a 2-6 mark in the Mountain West Conference. Coach Tim DeRuyter is in his fifth season as the Bulldogs' head coach and welcomes back 10 returning starters.

The three games in the series are the only meetings in school history between the Huskers and Bulldogs.

It can be streamed live on BTN2Go with a login from your cable or satellite provider. Playstation Vue also streams the Big Ten Network as part of their Elite and Core packages (but not Access). Sling does not yet have the Big Ten Network in either the Orange or Blue packages (get to work on that Commissioner Delaney, please!)

More streaming options: The official Huskers app is available on iTunes. The app is free but accessing live audio costs $4.99 (per season). The app is available for Android users for free but the live content requires a payment (I could not see the amount but assume it is similar to the other). I have tried the iTunes version and deleted it. It kept asking me to pay again every time I wanted to listen. I just use the TuneIn app instead. I am curious if have used any of these apps - let me know in the comments.
Weather: At kickoff it is expected to be 75 degrees and partly cloudy. It will be a little breeze with south-southeast winds at 14 mph.
Odds: The Huskers are favored by 28.5 points.

Trivia
Nebraska Head Coach Mike Riley enters the season with 99 career coaching victories in the collegiate ranks. A win over Fresno State would give Riley his 100th career college coaching victory.
Quotables
Coach Riley on starting the season:
"I feel great going into the game," Riley said. "I believe our guys will be fresh and our goal has obviously been to have them prepared. If we can play fast and prepared, then we’ll be all right."
Injury update on safety Antonio Reed from Coach Riley. (Reed is listed at Nate Gerry’s backup - Gerry is suspended for the season opener):
"Antonio has had a little bit of a knee issue. He probably is not going to play and hasn’t been practicing," Riley said. "We might still take him to the hotel, but my guess is he won’t play. He’ll be ready next week we believe. Corey Whitaker was back. He did a great job. Right now, Sam will start. Corey is ready to go a couple different spots probably."
