The Olympics start today, excuse me, the Quadrennial Sports Spectacular. Remember when the NFL got testy with non-sponsors talking about the Superb Owl? The International Olympic Committee geniuses thought that having less people talking about your brand was a good idea too. I guess stupid is not limited to Baylor.

Our own Husker athletic department, who has several athletes representing the Big Red in Rio cannot use certain Twitter hashtags or trademarks. I imagine the same is true for every other college athletic department around the world. I have to ask, does the IOC really think this makes their sponsorships MORE valuable? I tend to think it goes the other way.

But hey, nobody is hiring me to be their marketing manager either.
