Nebraska Freshman WR Derrion Grim Leaving Program

The Cali WR is leaving Lincoln.

One less wideout in Lincoln this season.

Greg Smith of ESPN 1480 first reported that Nebraska Cornhuskers freshman wide receiver Derrion Grim has left the program. Grim, in the tweet above, confirms Smith’s report.

Grim originally came to the program at the start of the winter semester last season. He & quarterback Patrick O’Brien were both the only early enrollees of the 2016 recruiting cycle.

Grim originally committed to Nebraska out of McNair High School in Stockton, California. It is normal for kids to have homesickness in their first year of school.

Grim, however, was being considered for a redshirt by Nebraska OC Danny Langsdorf as recently as yesterday. He & JD Spielman were both vying for PT this season in Nebraska’s big haul of wideouts.

I saw this tweet from Christopher Heady of LandOf10 yesterday and had a wondering eye about it...

This does provide some answers into the Reilly statement from yesterday.

We do wish Grim well where ever he lands. It is the one spot Nebraska has depth at for such a occurrence. His roommate, cornerback Tony Butler, gave him some props on twitter just now.
