Last night, Nebraska Cornhuskers wide receivers coach Keith Williams was cited by the Lincoln Police Department for driving under the influence.
Williams, who is in his second year in Lincoln, was in an accident at the intersection of 9th and N streets around 1:45 a.m.
Williams was cited for DUI +.15 blood alcohol level in the accident. According to the LPD report, this was Williams’ third DUI-related offense. It’s unclear whether Williams had an offense in Nebraska.

Williams has a court date tomorrow, August 15th, at 2 p.m. in Lincoln.
According to the site DUI Driving Laws, the fact that Williams is both on his third offense and had a BAC of +15 complicates things badly for him:
The administrative penalties for a BAC alcohol level equal to or greater than .15 are as follows:
Fine up to $10,000
License suspension from 5 to 15 years
Vehicle immobilization for minimum 5 days and up to 8 months or vehicle impoundment
Installation of Ignition Interlock Device if judge orders
Attendance at chemical dependency education or treatment program
It should also be mentioned that Nebraska does allow plea bargaining for these offenses.
There is no indication as to how this will affect his job status at this time, but at the same time, it’s not a good look when Joseph Lewis is in town, with Lewis being mostly likely your A1 target.
The Lincoln Police Department did confirm to CN that Williams was arrested at the scene of the accident.
The University of Nebraska has issued this statement:
“The Nebraska Athletics Department is aware of the incident involving Assistant Coach Keith Williams. We will continue to gather additional information and will withhold further comment at this time.”
UPDATE: Per Steve Sipple of the LJS, Williams is being held till his court appearance tomorrow.
Keith Williams is in Lancaster County Jail until court appearance at 2 p.m. Monday.

Nebraska is scheduled to have 2 practices tomorrow with media availability by Mike Riley after the first practice that starts at 9AM. Obviously, this does mean that Williams will not be at practice in the morning.
We should know something on his status sometime soon.
