Nebraska kicker Drew Brown was one of 30 players selected to the initial 2016 Lou Groza Award Watch list.
Brown is a junior and has handled Nebraska’s place-kicking duties the past two seasons. Last season he was a second-team All-Big Ten selection and set a sophomore school record with 21 field goals.
No Nebraska player has won the Lou Groza award, nor even been selected as the last three finalists. Amazing, considering the kickers that Nebraska has had over the years, such as Alex Henery, or maybe Drew’s brother, Kris, who currently holds second place in career scoring in Nebraska history.
Brown was one of three selected from the Big Ten Conference, the others being Griffin Oakes of Indiana and Minnesota’s Ryan Santoso.
