At long last, the wait for Nebraska Cornhuskers Football is coming to an end.
The Nebraska Athletic Department today released more information on both Fan Day, plus the first week of the 2016 Fall Camp. Details are as such:
- Nebraska’s Fan Day will last a full 2 hours on Wednesday, August 3rd from 6 to 8pm. Fans will be able to get autographs from Head Coach Mike Riley, all assistant coaches and players.
With the longer times, there will be four gates that will allow you to enter Memorial Stadium. Fans may enter and exit Memorial Stadium through Gates 3 (SW), 11 (NW), 15 (NE) and 24 (SE).
Defensive position groups will primarily be seated along the West sideline, receivers, offensive line and specialists on the East sideline and quarterbacks and running backs in the North end zone. Assistant coaches will be seated with their respective position groups.
- The Nebraska Football program will honor fallen Punter Sam Foltz during Fan Day on Wednesday, with a short moment of silence and a video tribute inside the stadium.
- Head Coach Mike Riley will speak to the media at 1:30pm that Wednesday, with selected players meeting with the media from 2-3pm that afternoon as well. Due to the fact that Nebraska missed out on Big Ten Media Days from the Foltz tragedy, this will be your best chance for MR sharing anything big for the program. That could be transfers in, out, or injury news.
- The very next day, the Huskers will kick off their 2016 Fall Camp with a practice at 3:30pm. Mike Riley will speak to the media after said practice, and the media will be able to watch practice as well.
Nebraska will practice for four consecutive days, with post-practice media access after the Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday practices. In keeping with last year’s policies, it seems that days will alternate with Mike Riley, Offensive Coordinator Danny Langsdorf and Defensive Coordinator Mark Banker. Normally, the players picked after practice followed their coordiators (offensive ones on Langsdorf days, etc).
After taking that Sunday, August 7th off, Nebraska will keep on Fall Camp with a practice a day. Riley is not scheduled to talk to the media until Tuesday, August 9th.
The Huskers open their 2016 Football season with a primetime matchup vs. Fresno State on Saturday, September 3rd.
