Tyronn Lue, former Nebraska standout point guard guided the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first National Basketball League Championship. The win was the city of Cleveland's first championship since the Cleveland Browns won the NFL title in 1964.

Lue took over for former Cavalier coach David Blatt who was fired in January of 2016. Lue who won his first ten playoff games, was the third coach to win the NBA Championship after taking over the head coaching role midway through the season.
