Nebraska and Michigan State tangle in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament. Michigan State looks to bounce back after losing five of six, while the Huskers look to stretch their win streak to seven games. Nebraska sends Derek Burkamper out to the mound while the Spartans counter with Cam Vieaux
Burkamper started the opening contest of the season series against the Spartans, and picked up the win. Burkamper did not pitch effectively, but still got the win allowing 2 runs in 5.1 innings pitched. Vieaux meanwhile, got roughed up by the Huskers, allowing six runs in just 4.1 innings pitched.
The health of Vieaux will be an interesting story, as he pitched only .1 innings last weekend against Maryland, and the weekend before he lasted only 4.1 innings against Iowa. If Vieaux can channel his ace ceiling pitching, it could be a long day for Nebraska.
The Huskers meanwhile, will look to pack the park in the first contests. Expect a crowd between 9-12,000 fans at the mid afternoon contests. Weather is expected to be hot, and humid with a chance of thunderstorms.
