Nebraska will look to bounce back after suffering a 7-4 defeat last night. Freshman Mike Waldron will get the start for the Huskers while Penn State will send Sal Biasi to the mound.
Nebraska could not figure out Nick Hedge last night as he pitched into the eighth for the first time this season. The good news for Nebraska was that they did make good contact against Jack Anderson, Penn State's dynamic closer.
For the Huskers today, they will need to avoid the free pass. Nebraska issued five free passes last night, an all to common theme this year. The good news is that Waldron has given just eight free passes on the year. If Waldron can attack hitters you have to like the Huskers chances.
Biasi meanwhile, is coming off of two quality starts. He allowed just three runs to a potent Texas Christian offense, while shutting out Maryland in five innings of work in the start prior. Biasi has been prone to the long ball this season, allowing a team high five home runs.
Expect the ball to fly out to right field today with a north northwest wind predict for the game. Last night, Penn State got a three run home run that just carried the wall in right, if a left handed hitter could pull one today, the ball will travel.
