It was somewhat unexpected, but the Nebraska Cornhuskers got a big commitment before the start of a big visit weekend with the Spring game.

Austin Allen, a 6'8 Tight End out of Aurora, Nebraska and Aurora High School, has pulled the trigger and committed to the Huskers.
Besides the committable offer from the Huskers, Allen also had offers from Iowa, Iowa State and Central Florida. he is both unranked so far in the 247 ranking system as well as state of Nebraska or '17 TE cycle rankings.
The first thing you notice is that he's a tall one at 6'8. Granted, this is lower class Nebraska play we're speaking of, but I do think Allen is the type of in-state kid that deserves a shot to get into the Nebraska Offense and see what he can do. Danny Langsdorf was the main guy here, and it's paid off with a verbal. Allen is still (far as I know) planning on hitting up the Spring game tomorrow before his prom. Nice icebreaker for the date.
When Allen gets a grade, I would expect a mid-level 3 star out of 247 and the likely other services.
That makes five commits for the Huskers for the 2017 recruiting cycle, and a big weekend may have much more. What does Nebraska have in store for visitors this weekend? We'll talk about that tomorrow, but right now enjoy the Big Red staying in the state and getting the talent they need.
