Nebraska received a verbal commitment from outside linebacker Willie Hampton (Oxbridge Academy, Florida) Wednesday evening. He is rated as the #30 outside linebacker in the 2017 class. He is 6'1" and 220 lbs.
Trent Bray was the lead recruiter for the speedy prospect (he is reported to be timed at 4.5 in the 40). His other offers were Western Michigan and [/begin conspiracy theories] Central Florida. OMG! Why else would Scott Frost send a talented prospect to Nebraska unless he intends to be coaching here in the next 2 or 3 years?!? [/end conspiracy theory]
Mike Riley is pretty well-regarded for his talent evaluation abilities and if he has zeroed in on a kid with this offer sheet, you can bet there are coaches all over the country pulling up Hudl highlights. [Looking at you Arizona State] Speaking of which:
Did you notice something? This kid has a knack for finding the football and closing on it quickly. Also, the Huskers need some help in the pass rush department. I did observe a quarterback or two on the ground when #30 was in the vicinity. Coincidence?
Confirmed: #Huskers get a commitment from FL LB @WillH_C30. First reported by @RivalsBryan https://t.co/wjl2CkNFax

Even the head man himself mentioned the commitment.
It's a great night to be a #Huskers fan! Baseball and Hoops win and a big addition to the family tonight! #GBR
