Nebrasketball: Northwestern Game Thread

Last game of the regular season. Can the Huskers steal a win?

Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

This is it. Last game of the regular season.

If Northwestern wins they will most likely be the number 9 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and have a first round bye. Nebraska will most likely then stay at number 11 and play in the first round. If the Huskers win, then they could leapfrog Penn State in the rankings. That will also probably rely upon Penn State beating Illinois and Purdue beating Wisconsin. So right now the Huskers post season fate is in the hands of others. Isn't late season basketball.

Miles really wanted a first round bye, in fact he offered something very close to him to get it.

I have a feeling that whatever he offered up is still there. The players must have called his bluff.

Northwestern has had a fairly decent season by going 15-3 early on. They then hit a five game losing skid in January and have gone 4-3 since then. Currently they are on a two game winning streak against Rutgers and Penn State.

Oh yeah, did you hear Rutgers finally won a conference game? It was a 75-52 win against Minnesota. That win halted what has been considered one of the worst basketball seasons for a Big Ten team in history. Thanks Rutgers, it's nice to see you brought something to the conference.

Anyway, on to the game.

Northwestern

Game Time: 1:00pm

Location: Evanston, IL

Previous Matchup: Northwestern 81 Nebraska 72 on 12/30/15

Record: 19-11 (7-10 conference)

Probable Starters

Nebraska: Andrew White III, Shavon Shields, Benny Parker, Tai Webster, Michael Jacobson

Brew of the Game: Let's go with Surly's Nein. It's a nice hefeweizen that has a nice rich and slightly smoky flavor. A nice beer to end the season with. Should go well with a HUSKER WIN!

- GBR!
