Flakes: Volcanoes, Basketball, Haunted Hotels, and Internet TV

New, 2 comments

Someone actually wrote an article that tries to crown a team other than Nebraska as the best program of the 90's. No really. We also talk about hoops, internet TV, volcanoes, and haunted hotels.

I'm baaaaack! After spending a couple weeks gallivanting around the world on Cobby's credit card (Shhhhhh! He will never notice since I got all the vendors to list themselves as 'liquor store' on the statements).

Actually, I traveled to Australia and New Zealand for work purposes. I was learning about different models for extension - which about making sure science gets put into use. Things like reflexive monitors, knowledge management, and co-innovation are all now part of my vocabulary. I loved every minute of it.

Of course, seeing kangaroos run through the yard at a friend's house and taking a hike at the base of a volcano is pretty awesome too.

Basketball season is just about over. The women start the Big Ten tournament tomorrow (Thursday). They play Rutgers at 5:30 p.m. The men have one more game, Northwestern on Sunday. It is safe to say that both teams fell a bit short of their goals  but both teams also have a lot of young talent. They should be fun to watch for a few years.

Ranking the 10 best college football programs of each decade - SBNation.com
Let's use modern analytics to go back in time and see how each decade has stacked up. Can 2010s Alabama or anyone else ever top what Florida State did in the 1990s?

Yes - Nebraska did. Somehow no one starts that argument in the comments. I am disappointed in you, Husker fans.

The 23 most perfect offenses in the history of college football - SBNation.com
The 1995 Huskers were one and it's almost boring to talk about them because we all acknowledge how unstoppable they were. They played a scheduled that featured seven teams that finished .500 or better and four that won at least 10 games. They averaged 53 points per game. They outscored Michigan State and Arizona State in September by a combined 127-38 and wrapped up a perfect regular season with a 37-0 win over Oklahoma that could have been much worse.
