It's a busy Friday afternoon, as there are multiple teams in action, and the NCAA Tournament ongoing. Wrestling is currently in fifth place, with five wrestlers into the quarterfinals, Baseball looks to extend its win streak to seven games, and Softball looks to pick up their 17th win of the season.
Wrestling is televised today on ESPNU. Nebraska finished ninth in the NCAA Tournament last season, and are gunning for their highest finish since Jordan Burroughs was in school. Nebraska looks to win with depth, as all ten wrestlers are still alive.
Softball heads out west for another tournament. The Easton Tournament features a game against Oklahoma as the marquee matchup for the 23rd ranked Huskers. The Huskers will open the tournament tonight against UNLV.
Baseball open finishes their nine game home stand this weekend as they host the Wichita State Shockers. The Shockers are good at basketball, but are struggling this season with baseball. A 6.24 ERA and a .263 batting average shows why the Shockers struggle.
NCAA Basketball wise, five BIG teams are in action today. Michigan plays Notre Dame in a rivalry game, Michigan State plays Middle Tennessee, Wisconsin plays Pittsburgh, Maryland plays South Dakota State, and Iowa plays Temple. I hope Iowa loses and just for kicks their game is on truTV, the channel no one can find.
All four 10 vs. 7 seed games are today, so expect some minor upsets. The only 12 seed playing today is South Dakota State, a team who could upset Maryland, depending on which Maryland shows up to play. Stephen F. Austin against West Virginia and Northern Iowa against Texas are two trendy upset picks today as well.
