Nebraska Baseball Vs Loyola Marymount Doubleheader Gamthread

Due to weather concerns, Nebraska plays two against the Lions this afternoon

After sweeping a midweek series against the Northern Colorado Bears, the Huskers will look to stretch their winning streak this afternoon as they host the Loyola Marymount Lions. Colton Howell and Derek Burkamper will get the starts in games one and two respectively for the Huskers. J.D. Busfield will get the start in game one, while game two is TBA for the Lions.

Last season the Huskers took two of three from the Lions. Burkamper pitched the Sunday game, shutting down the Lions over seven innings of one run ball. The Huskers also had success against Abbott, tagging him for three runs out of the bullpen in game two.

Cassidy Brown and Sean Watkins lead the Lions offensively, with Brown batting .432 with five extra base hits. Watkins adds in a .333 batting average, while the Lions as a team bat only. 256. Opponents are batting .288 against Marymount.

For the Huskers, Scott Schreiber leads the team with five home runs, one less than Marymounts total on the season. The Huskers as a team are slugging .463, their best since the 2006 season. The Huskers are on pace to hit 55 home runs this season, a total that would approach 2010's total of 60 in one season.
