Per a report, Nebrasketball will rekindle an old rivalry with the Jayhawks.

It was pretty nice to see the Huskers scheduling the likes of Oklahoma and Colorado in football in the upcoming years. Old rivalries that have been pushed to the wayside to make way for financial security. While you may not like the opposing fans or consider them rivalries, it's pretty cool to be able to play them again.

Now it's coming over to the hardwood as another former Big 12/8 foe will grace the schedule and a lot sooner than in football. It has been confirmed that the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kansas Jayhawks have agreed to a home and home series in basketball starting the 2016-17 season.

The first year will be played at the historic Phog Allen Field house at a currently unknown date. The Jayhawks will then return to Lincoln in the 2017-18 season. The Vault had yet to be built when Kansas last played here in 2011 so it will be a new experience for the Kansas fans as they travel north. I am sure it will be harder for them to get tickets this time around as there was usually a decent amount of blue in the stands during our old playing days.

From the Journal Star:

The Journal Star has confirmed that Nebraska and Kansas have agreed to play a home-and-home series beginning next season, although no contract has yet been signed.

Kansas would become the first team from the former Big Eight or current Big 12 to visit Pinnacle Bank Arena in the 2017-18 season.

First, under terms of the contract, Nebraska would play Kansas at historic Allen Fieldhouse next season.

Kansas leads the all time series at 170-71. Hopefully the Huskers young team will be able to take away a win against the perennial Big 12 favorites. It will be a rowdy one in The Phog but it has been done before.
