Here is the statement by head coach Mike Riley:
"I want to thank Hank for his hard work and contributions to our football program over the past year," Riley said. "We continue to build our program with the pursuit of championships always at the forefront of everything we do, and we will look for a great coach, teacher, and recruiter to enhance our defense."
Right now, there is sure to be speculation, but we don't have anything definitive as to whether he left on his own or was terminated. So, Nebraska's search for a new defensive line coach will begin in earnest immediately. Also, the staff at Corn Nation wishes nothing but the best for Coach Hughes, and thanks him for all his hard work and dedication this past season.
