Nebraska Baseball Opens Play In Tony Gwynn Classic

Colton Howell looks to get his first win of the season as the Huskers take on the University of San Diego Toreros

After losing the first series of the season, the Nebraska Baseball team will look to bounce back as they open play Friday evening against the University of San Diego. Senior Colton Howell will look to get his first win of the season while Troy Conyers will counter for the Toreros.

Howell will look to keep the Toreros off balance after pitching five scoreless innings to open the season. Howell should find success as the Toreros have struggled offensively this season. Look for Howell to pound his fastball early and often against the Toreros.

For the Huskers, the key to this weekend will be to get Ryan Boldt going. Boldt who was 1-13 last weekend will need to be productive against a struggling Toreros pitching staff. The Toreros have a team ERA of 10.64, a byproduct of facing a tough Vanderbilt team in the opening weekend.
