This fine Wednesday finds me leaving the ranch and heading to the Motor City (Detroit). I get to spend the rest of this work week learning how to train people in concept mapping. It is a really interesting educational tool and I'm looking forward to learning more.
The biggest event on the ranch is not my work trip. It involves the Christmas tree that Ranchdude and the ranch sons picked out. I had grown tired of crooked Christmas trees from big box stores and requested that they go to a real Christmas tree farm.
Apparently the part about not wanting a crooked tree got lost in translation.
They came home with a monstrosity (right out of a Lampoon's movie) that is 12 feet high and 10 feet wide. It is also more crooked than any tree we ever brought home from those discount stores.
"It didn't look that big outside."
After some chainsaw time, Ranchdude got the monstrosity to fit into our tree stand...only to discover that our little tree stand wasn't nearly big enough to keep that giant tree upright. Sons #1 and #2 held onto it while Ranchdude devised more plans.
As of this moment, the tree has a board bolted to it, keeping it from falling backwards into the window. It also has ropes tied to various pieces of furniture to keep it upright.
I have ordered all decorating stopped and the monster tree removed. It can be decorated out on the front lawn.
I'm buying an artificial tree.
