So? Who’s going to Nashville?
Nebraska gets Tennessee in the Music City Bowl. Initial thought – it may take be taken by some as a disappointment to have dropped that far in the bowl selection process, but Nashville sounds like a fun city to me, and Tennessee seems like an appropriate opponent.
Nebraska and Tennessee have so much in common season it’s uncanny. our Tennessee sister site wrote this synopsis about our teams’ seasons and I felt it appropriate to share with you:
Tennessee vs Nebraska in the Music City Bowl - Rocky Top Talk
This year Tennessee was 5-0 and ranked #9 before losing on the road at #8 Texas A&M in double overtime. Nebraska was 7-0 and #7 before losing on the road at #11 Wisconsin in overtime. The Vols followed up their loss with a 49-10 beat down from #1 Alabama. The Huskers followed theirs with a 62-3 drilling from then-#6 Ohio State. And while Tennessee lost to South Carolina by three and Vanderbilt by 11 down the stretch, Nebraska lost to Iowa 40-10.
I wouldn’t be so quick to write this bowl game off as a victory for Nebraska.
It’s about who wants to be there. Who wants to be there? Both teams will say that they’re determined, but we’ll only find that out when the game starts.
Nebraska has the chance to end the season to end up with 10 wins, ranked, and having beaten a decent SEC team. That’s a helluva lot better than the alternative, which is just another 9-4 season, out of the Top 25, and having gone 2-4 after having started the season so well.
I don’t think a loss will hurt our recruiting, but it will make the offseason a lot more dreary and that sucks a lot. That’s the kind of suck that causes restaurants to go out of business in the Haymarket area.
I wouldn’t mind going to Nashville. I’ve never been there. It sounds fun.
National Championship
So we know our national championship pairings:
Alabama vs. Washington and Clemson vs. Ohio State
I want to say that Washington has a fair chance against Alabama, but it’s mostly just wishful thinking. The Huskies have a decent defense, and they can score, but can they score against the Crimson Tide, a team who will quickly render them one-dimensional?
These pairing were set up for what the nation really wants to see: Alabama vs Ohio State.
News
Sure enough, a day after Nebraska advanced to yet another Sweet 16 after easily sweeping TCU, the Huskers learned Sunday they’ll be hosting Big Ten Conference rival Penn State on Friday. At 11 a.m., on ESPNU. “I don’t think that’s great for the sport of volleyball,” Cook said, “but we have to be prepared for that, because ESPN decides who plays when and what and how.”

Nicea Eliely pumped in a career-high 19 points, but it was not enough to prevent unbeaten California from running to an 86-65 win over the Nebraska women's basketball team at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Right now, all the commemorative jerseys and helmets are kept in Nebraska’s equipment room, Brown said. He expects the team to frame them and give them to the Foltz family, a reminder of the way college football wrapped itself around them this season.

The latest details about Kevin Wilson’s transgressions may be the most damning yet
I have no idea why a head coach would think it’s okay to belittle players for any reason, let alone that they’re injured. What a stupid shit for brains. He deserves to have lost his millions and ride off into the darkness.

Some of you might be a little upset that Iowa isn’t going to Nashville (myself included, I was toying with the idea of taking my first ever trip to Cashville if Iowa went) but the Outback is undeniably just as prestigious? Anyway it doesn’t snow in Florida so just be happy it’s a warm destination.

Heisman Trophy 2016 finalists released Monday: Lamar Jackson and who else? - SBNation.com
We’ll update this list once the official list comes out. Here’s who’s in the hunt.
Jackson got so much hype so early.. and by early, I mean before he ever played a down, that he’s a sure winner despite the fact that he really may not deserve it this season. Is he fun to watch? Yes. Is he a great player? Yes. A Heisman Trophy-level winner this season? We don’t know that because no one else got pumped about it.
