Mike Riley confirmed today Lavan Alston is no longer on the team. #Huskers— Christopher Heady (@heady_chris) December 26, 2016
Mike Riley announced in his first press availability in Nashville today that redshirt freshman Lavan Alston is no longer with the Nebraska program.
Alston, who came to Lincoln from St. Bonaventure HS in Centura, California, never saw the field in game action for the Huskers. Alston missed last season with a knee injury he suffered in fall camp. Riley did state that Alston will probably head to the junior college route.
Riley announced the Alston departure after the first practice for Nebraska’s appearance in the Music City Bowl vs. Tennessee Friday afternoon.
Other notes by Riley:
- RB Tre Bryant was still listed as questionable for the game. Riley hopes that Bryant can contribute at RB and kick returning.
- LB Marcus Newby is “very very questionable” for Friday with a groin injury.
