Cobs of the Week: Colorado, UCLA, Nebraska and Iowa

NCAA Football: Purdue at Nebraska Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Some weeks we laugh at others suckage. Other weeks, we are the suckage.

This is one of those weeks. We almost went with separate nominations for the Huskers offense and defense, but frankly, we didn’t see the point. It was a disaster from the third play on, and on both sides of the ball.

But misery loves company, so we’ll bring a couple others to our nominations. But first, we’ve got some Big Ten referee suckage to show. Illinois scored late against Michigan State, and when the Illini receiver came down with the ball in the end zone, the referee made an unusual call.

Touchback?

Colorado and UCLA

Our old friends the Buffies get to share a nomination with UCLA for a penalty-fest on Thursday night. The two teams combined for 25 penalties and 223 yards. And it wasn’t silly things like delay of game or false starts; no, the two teams combined for eleven personal foul and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

Nebraska

62-3. Any more questions?

Iowa

Most Husker fans were too deep in their own misery to switch over to BTN to check out the Hawkeyes game against Penn State. While the Hawkeyes kept it a little closer on the scoreboard (41-14), the stats showed it to be just as much of a blowout. A couple of end-of-game kneeldowns dropped Penn State to 599 total yards (359 on the ground), while the Hawkeyes only rushed for 30 yards.
