Nebraska Issues Statement on Tommy Armstrong Injury

Joe Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports

A statement was released from the Nebraska athletic department regarding Tommy Armstrong's injury that occurred in the second quarter against Ohio State:

According to Nebraska medical personnel, quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. was briefly knocked unconscious. He was moving all extremities and talking while on the field. He is being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

At the time of his injury, Ohio State was leading the game 24-3 late into the second quarter. Armstrong was running towards the sideline and was tackled, although not late, and hit his head on the ground during the tackle. He didn't move for what seemed forever.

As he was taken off the field, Armstrong gave a thumbs up, but was clearly upset.

Backup senior quarterback Ryker Fyfe will take over for Armstrong, probably for the remainder of the game.
