Flakes: Volleyball, Appalachian Trail, Iowa Week

Volleyball has a big match tonight. It's Iowa, "rivalry" week, and Notre Dame has to vacate wins. We also explore quantum cryptography and life with sons.

Good morning Corn Nation!

We made it through the first winter storm of the season here on the ranch. The day before the storm, Son 2 took on a band saw in shop class, and lost. It wasn't serious at all (it could have been soooooo much worse) but six stitches later, he got out of chores for a few days.

Son 1 had his wisdom teeth removed on the day of the storm. We made it to the surgery center alright, but the highway home was closed by the time his surgery was done. The poor kid got drug around from store to store (he needed new jeans anyway) and had to listen to Mom moderate a webcast from her phone in the car in the mall parking lot. We did make it home before dark.

With both older brothers out of commission, Son 3 got the distinct pleasure of doing all the chores. Of course, he did not complain at all. He loved digging in the snow and not having his brothers yell at him the entire time he was outside.

Flakes is abbreviated today because Son 1 heads into the dentist this morning to figure out why he is still in so much pain several days after the surgery. Poor kid will get lots of mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving.
