Big Red Cobcast: And so it begins...

Next week Wiscy, then the Buckeyes, then THE WORLD!

Bruce Thorson-USA TODAY Sports

Alright, so let's admit something to ourselves. The Huskers, as much as I love the 7-0 start (something I haven't seen for almost half of my life), aren't respected. That really isn't anything new. No one has ever really treated us like we belonged. We aren't the cool, coastal college. We aren't the smarty pants, ivy league-that-somehow-has-a-good-football-team college. We aren't the southern "we'll pay you to come play here" college.

We are Nebraska.

We're used to having to prove that we can play with the big boys and we get that opportunity Saturday. Then we get opportunity number two on the following Saturday. Ultimately our season starts next weekend. Everything else was just a bunch of shitty mozzarella sticks that should have been easier to make but we didn't make them quite right and now we have to start on the main course. Hopefully all that hard work in the kitchen has prepared us to make Chicken Cordon Bleu and scalloped potatoes. Because those are harder to make than the trash bar food we've been making the last 7 weeks.

Metaphors. I'm good at them like Penguins are good at flying.

You know what though? Even though all signs point to the fact that we should be nervous - I'm not. I think we win. I think we win big. I think we make the playoffs. I think we play to the level of our opponent. I think I'm excited about the future of this program.

I guess we'll find out what the truth is, who is wrong and who is right, when we play Wisconsin is just a few short days. Saturday can't get here fast enough.
