New, comments

It was a big weekend at the Bob Devaney Sports Center as the #1 Nebraska Cornhuskers hosted a pair of highly ranked foes. It was Final Four quality volleyball in late October. Friday night saw the Huskers down the Wisconsin Badgers in dominating fashion. Behind Amber Rolfzen's 16 kills, NU swept aside the #4 Badgers 25-21, 25-22, 25-15.

Sunday afternoon saw a much stiffer contest facing Big Red as the #3 Minnesota Golden Gophers tried to knock NU off it's perch. It was a tight, tense match as the Gophers pushed the Huskers to a decisive fifth game. Rolfzen had another big game with 16 kills, two other Huskers broke the 16 kill mark, Mikaela Foecke and Briana Holman finished with 17 and 20 respectively. This game also saw senior libero Justine Wang-Orantes put on a defensive clinic setting a school record with 35 digs. NU dominated the fifth set to take the match 24-26, 25-18, 26-24, 25-22, 15-8.

Since dropping their first match of the season on October 1st to Ohio State, the Huskers have reeled off six straight match wins. The Huskers look to continue their winning ways as they continue their homestand next weekend when they host a pair of teams from Illinois. The Fighting Illini come to town first Friday evening. Northwestern will take on the Huskers Saturday.
