After yet another frustrating loss, Purdue has fired head coach Darrell Hazell, according to the Indianapolis Star. Hazell went 9-33 in three and a half seasons in West Lafayette, and won only three conference games in that time.

Purdue is expected to name wide receivers coach Gerard Parker as interim head coach. Hazell was in the fourth year of a six year, $12.75 million contract, which necessitated a decision to either extend or terminate Hazell at the end of this season.

Needless to say, Purdue’s lack of progress this season made that dec easy, and rather than prolong the agony, Purdue made the move at the midway point of the season. And with new television money forthcoming from the new Big Ten contract, it gives Purdue an opportunity to reboot the entire program.
