Illinois leads Nebraska 13-10 at half after a lackluster half by the the Husker offense and a defense that looked lost on the field as badly as we’ve seen them this year.
Nebraska’s offense has put up 223 yards in the first half, but has committed three bad penalties and a turnover that allowed Illinois to stay close in the game. The Huskers have controlled the ball more, and have nearly double the passing yardage as the Illini,. Nebraska has even run 34 plays to Illinois’ 24, but the Huskers are still behind.
This is not acceptable.
The run game has shown some promise, but so far Nebraska has rushed 19 time for 71 yards for a 3.7 per attempt average. This might have to do with the fact that our offensive line has injuries and David Knevel isn’t playing well today, but does it matter?
Tommy Armstrong is nine-for-15 for 152 yards and one interception that occurred just before half. That interception lead to Illinois’ lead as their kicker, McGaughlin, kicked a 43-yard field goal as time expired.
Let’s see what happens in the second half.
Are you ready?
