Nebraska loses to Iowa 77-66 and falls 0-3 in the Big Ten.

Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Nebraska falls to 0-3 in Big Ten play and 8-8 overall with a loss to Iowa. Nebraska started off the game hot going on a 10-0 run but couldn't do much after that. Iowa is a great team and may compete for the Big Ten title this season.

The Good

Tai Webster had 22 points off the bench. He played his best game of his career. Shavon Shields had 13 points and 6 rebounds in this game. Nebraska actually played better in the paint in this game. Nebraska was only out rebounded 37-34 in this game. That's actually better than the last 2 Big Ten games for Nebraska. If Nebraska didn't go on their long scoring droughts, they could have gotten a huge road win on Tuesday night.

The Bad

Iowa is just a good basketball team. I know Nebraska fans don't want to admit that but it is true. Iowa has great shooting and rebounding. They are one of the best teams in the Big Ten. Nebraska started the game off hot but Iowa didn't panic. They were able to respond and take the game over. Once Iowa took the lead in the first half, they never looked back. Jarrod Uthroff led Iowa with 25 points and Mike Gesell had 22 points. There's your game right there. Nebraska could have had Mike Gesell but he chose Iowa over Nebraska. That still hurts. Nebraska has lost 5 straight games to Iowa in basketball. And that hurts even more.

What's next?

Nebraska is 0-3 in Big Ten play. That's the bad news. The good news? Nebraska has three winnable games coming up. At Rutgers, vs Minnesota and at Illinois. If Nebraska could some how win all three of those games, they would be right back into contention in conference play. 0-3 isn't an ideal start for Nebraska, but with winnable games coming up, they have to take advantage. Nebraska's next game at Rutgers is Saturday January 9th at 4:00 PM.
