Mike Riley went around the country this week, looking for the folks to finish off the Nebraska Cornhuskers 2016 recruiting cycle.
This weekend will be spent with some important visitors, some (hopefully more than some) should be pulling the trigger and committing to the Huskers, while a few will be holding out for a while.
As of this morning, this is the list of folks that will be visiting this weekend. A reminder that this list is always fluid and could change to either add or remove prospects.
Dismuke is beyond solid, he's just checking out everything.
Bryan is just as solid as Dismuke is. Matter of fact, there is a hope in both can help out those uncommitted and visiting as well.
We spoke of Jefferson earlier this week, and there's good reason to think that he could commit to the Huskers this weekend. He does have a OV lined up for the last week of the cycle at Indiana, but a lot of folks wouldn't mind seeing his recruitment end sooner than that.
To his credit, Simmons has kept his recruitment very quiet this far. Clemson has stepped in the last week and will get his visit next weekend, so Nebraska has to keep up with the good relationship they've had with Isaiah before Dabo Swinney and Brent Venebles stepped in.
The fact that Allen is going to Lincoln is a testament of how hard Tavita Thompson and Mike Riley have worked on Allen. Many thought he'd have committed to Michigan last week during his OV, but it didn't happen. Word on the street is that Allen could be considering a visit to Iowa State later in the week or on the final weekend of the cycle. No one is putting him in as a Husker yet, but if good things happen this weekend, it may very well happen.
If there is anyone considered a lock to commit this weekend, even more than Jefferson, it should be Miller. When Randy Gregory is telling you to go from his HS to his College, you listen.
Lee is a interesting case, as he's looking for a place to finish out his career after leaving Tulane. One has to think that WR coach (formerly of Tulane) Keith Williams has something to do with this. Lee has fought a hand injury and is petitioning the NCAA for a medical hardship redshirt from last year. If he doesn't get that, he will sit for one year and have only one year of eligibility remaining when that year ends.
Your first '17 unofficial is the man who seems to love Lincoln a whole lot. Remember, he was supposed to hit up Lincoln the week of the Iowa game, but his somewhat famous Dad put the kaboosh on it. He will be traveling to Lincoln with a good friend of his and a big time Husker target as well.
The other '17 unofficial will be another one of the Calabasas crew, who Nebraska still is aiming very high for. Darnay has to be interested in Nebraska, or else he wouldn't be coming as often as he is.
