Nebraska Leads South Alabama 24-0 At Half

Nebraska leads the South Alabama Jaguars 24-0 at half behind a strong running game from Terrell Newby, who has scored three touchdowns and has 126 yards on 18 carries. Newby also scored on a eight-yard touchdown reception from Tommy Armstrong Jr. Newby has set career highs for yards and carries.

Armstrong has a touchdown pass (to Newby) after going 11-for-15 for 140 yards in the first half. Lane Hovey caught four passes for 64 yards, career highs for him in both categories.

Nebraska held South Alabama to -4 rushing in the first quarter.

South Alabama has had two chances to score, but on both occasions chose to go for it on fourth down rather than kick field goals. On both occasions they were stymied, thus the big zero on their side of the scoreboard.

So far it's been the Nebraska team Husker fans want to see. The offensive line has played well, providing running lanes for Newby and protection for Armstrong, while the defense has performed admirably.

Nate Gerry had an interception in the first half, his second in two games.
