Your New Nebraska PA Announcer: Pat Janssen!

Nebraska football is looking for a new Public Address Announcer as the old one allegedly did some nasty things and therefore has had himself removed from the position, although officially his contract was not renewed as stated by the University of Nebraska:

Mr. Combs’ annual letter of agreement with the University of Nebraska Athletics Department expired on August 1. Under the circumstances, we will not consider renewing the agreement until all legal issues are resolved.

In his place, CornNation would like to officially nominate our own Patrick Janssen for the position. While this may seem like a joke, it is not. Mr. Janssen has experience, has the voice, and he actually looks like a Nebraskan despite all that sun in Los Angeles where he currently resides.

Mr. Janssen has several years of PA and broadcasting work. He has experience at universities having worked for Wayne State College from 2005-07, and Virginia Commonwealth University, 2007-08.

He worked with the Winston-Salem Warthogs minor league baseball team in 2007, and with the Patriot League from 2008-2011.

Pat currently does stand up comedy and improv in Los Angeles, having regularly performed at the world famous Comedy Store and at iO West. He started the campaign for the PA position via social media, getting attention, both national and local, from his Twitter and Facebook pleas.

"This whole thing initially started as a comedic bit, but then I started to realize that I really want to do it," Janssen said. "It's something I'm really good at."

"When I was at VCU, the baseball staff convinced Towson's head coach that I was the voice of the Washington Redskins, so if I can pass for a NFL guy, surely I can hold my own in Memorial Stadium."

Fans can voice their support for Pat by tweeting "I vote for @thepatjanssen to the new PA voice of the @Huskers."

It's not the first time Pat has tried to land a big-time PA role via the internet. He previously applied for the Cubs' PA job with this video shot in his kitchen. You can also see his standup here.

"Nebraska has already reached out," Janssen said. "They seemed interested but also scared off by the distance because they've been burned in the past. If I have to, I'll camp out with family in the short term."

Janssen is a native Nebraskan, hailing from Auburn, Nebraska, so he understands all of what goes with Cornhuskers football.

We here at CN would like to throw our support behind Mr. Janssen as Nebraska football's next PA announcer. We hope you support him as well.
