The Nebraska Cornhuskers Basketball team went to Spain for a four game tour, and started off on a solid note.
Behind 17 point performances by both Tai Webster and Edward Morrow, Nebraska took a tie game at halftime and outscored Eurocolego Casvi 44-29 en route to a 79-64 opening victory on their Spanish trip.
The game was played in the home gym of Casvi, and had Eurpoean rules on the court with wider Free Throw lanes, a different 3 point line and European officials.
The Huskers came out in the First Quarter (4-10 minute Q's instead of just 2 basic 2-20 minute Halves) and raced out to a 22-10 lead. However, turnovers and sloppy play let Casvi back into it, and they took a brief lead until the Huskers tied it at 35 for the half.
The Second Half however was the Webster show, as Tai put up 9 points in a opening 12-0 run for Nebraska.
Morrow, playing off the bench, added his 17 points and 5 rebounds, as well as Jack McVeigh & Andrew White III added 10 points each. Nebraska's newcomers were responsible for 41 of the 79 total points for the Huskers.
The Huskers finished the Third Quarter with a 28-7 run to take a 63-42 lead into the Fourth. Casvi did win the Fourth Period 22-16, but the Huskers had the game in hand. Nebraska shot 48% from the field, while having a 52% Second Half.
Nebraska Basketball's support staff used Periscope and Snapchat to show the game, which was interesting to watch. I definitely recommend getting the apps and such for next time if you're a true Nebrasketball fan.
This was the first game of a four game trip for Nebraska which will see them be in Spain for another 6 days through August 23rd.
Nebraska will have their next game on Tuesday at 10am Central, as they will take on Albacete Basket, a Professional team.
