BIG Tournament: Nebraska vs Michigan State, Game Thread

Nebraska tries to keep it's NCAA Tournament hopes alive in an elimination game.

After a heartbreaking loss yesterday the Nebraska Baseball team is back in action in an elimination game taking on the Michigan State Spartans. The Spartans dropped a hard fought 2-1 contest to Maryland last night. Nebraska and Michigan State did not meet this year. Nebraska swept Michigan State in 2014 in their most recent contests.

Head coach Darin Erstad will shake up his lineup as Ryan Boldt is not starting today. Luis Alvarado moves into the leadoff spot while Austin Darby will get the start in center field. Jake Schleppenbach is back in the lineup after sitting against a tough lefty yesterday as well.

Kyle Kubat will get the start for the Huskers. Kubat faced Michigan State in the series finale last year pitching 6.1 innings of one run baseball. If Kubat can repeat his performance Nebraska would be in good shape.

Jeff Kinley is the scheduled starter for Michigan State. Kinley is a left handed pitcher who will mix in a good slider with a fastball. The Huskers have not seen Kinley in the five times they have faced Michigan State since joining the conference. Kinley has just recently transitioned to being a starter but will probably throw around 100 pitches depending on the situation.
