BIG Tournament: Nebraska vs Illinois Gamethread

The Huskers look to pull off an upset

After a disappointing 5-10 end to the regular season the Nebraska Baseball team starts postseason play against the Illinois Illini. Illinois has won 26 consecutive contests and swept Nebraska in a rain shortened two game series last weekend in Champaign Illinois.

Nebraska will send Chance Sinclair back to the mound to face the Illini for the second time in as many weeks. Sinclair struggled early against Illinois allowing a total of four runs in five innings. If Sinclair can correct some of his elevated pitches and work down in the zone he may find success.

Opposing Sinclair will be Kevin Duchene. Duchene is a projected high draft pick who won the pitcher of the year title in the BIG. Duchene did give up three runs to the Huskers last weekend, all courtesy of a Blake Headley home run. If the Huskers can make Duchene work they may be able to string together hits as they did in the last two contests last weekend.

Nebraska will once again load the lineup with right handed hitters. Somewhat surprising is Austin Darby will sit tonight in favor of Jake Meyers. Darby stranded three runners against Duchene last weekend.
