Nebraska lost to Purdue 9-6 yesterday in baseball, and in doing so pretty much destroyed their shot at a NCAA tourney bid. The only way they get in now is to win the Big Ten tourney, which is a possibility, although one that is very remote.
Purdue doubled their conference win total this weekend and won their first conference series since 2013.
HuskerOnline.com - Huskers show lack of fire in 9-6 loss
We got outhit, we got outpitched, we got out-executed by a team that has the worst record in the conference, but that's not what I'm upset about," Erstad said. "I'm upset about the fact that we got out-competed, outhustled, the tempo they played with was higher than ours. Obviously I'm not doing my job to get that across to them.
"I'm going to have to do some soul searching and figure out how to get to this group of guys, because that is unacceptable."
Obviously there's something wrong with this team. There's a clear lack of leadership. There is no "go to" guy on offense. There's no guy that provides fire when they need it. Sad thing is, they're going to waste a damned good pitching staff.
Do they hate Kyle Kubat, or what?
Huskers Fall in Home Finale, 9-6 - Huskers.com - Nebraska Athletics Official Web Site
The Nebraska baseball team (34-19, 9-12 Big Ten) had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning, but couldn’t complete a comeback in a 9-6 loss to the Purdue Boilermakers (17-34, 4-17 Big Ten) in the final home game of the season at Hawks Field. After winning the series opener on Saturday, the Huskers dropped the finale two games of series to Purdue.
What happens next? The Huskers head to Illinois. The Illini have won 24 straight, are 19-1 in conference and are ranked #5 in D1baseball.com's poll.
Darin Erstad was not happy.

He mentioned Illinois scoring 28, which they did against their final game against Rutgers last weekend.
As much as I hate linking to Clay Travis, he had an interesting take on the Longhorn Network yesterday.
Indeed, the biggest irony of the Longhorn Network is this: In deciding to create its own channel, Texas made much more money for two Big 12 schools that left for the SEC -- Texas A&M and Missouri -- than it's going to make for itself. That's because both Texas A&M and Missouri stand to make much more money off the SEC Network than Texas will ever make off the Longhorn Network. Nebraska, in the Big Ten, will also be making more television money than Texas.
I don't know if there's anything particular jaw-dropping about this. Nebraskans knew the LHN was a damned good reason to get the hell out of the Big 12 in the first place. Travis is simply confirming what we knew all along.
Rather than laugh at Texas, you might take a moment and feel sorry for Iowa State. They're the ones that are getting screwed the most of this.
Here's what Husker Mike had to say back in 2011:
If ESPN wants to salvage some of their investment in infrastructure, turn around and call Dan Beebe and create a new Big XII Network using the resources already sunk into LHN.
NU buyout terms final w/ Bo Pelini. Former #Huskers HC gets $128,009 monthly thru Feb. 2019. Including what's been paid, abt $6.54 million

Again, something we knew, but confirmed, re-iterated, if for no other reason than to grate on your nerves. The Bo Pelini era is over, let's move on.
I don't understand emojis, really, but Kelly Mosier, Director of Digital Communications at the Nebraska Athletic Department, is brilliant:

Bawk Bawk!
Does it not make sense you wouldn't want a player transferring to a school that's going to play you the following season? Restrictions like that need to be at the discretion of a coach. This isn't the NFL.

Astoundingly Stupid Restaurant Customers, Part 2
My personal favorite was a lady who drove into the parking lot way too fast, drove past the windows of the restaurant (not slowing down at all), and drove down the boat ramp into the lake. INTO THE LAKE. Then she ran into the restaurant screaming at me that it was my fault she had just driven her car into a lake. "Why is there a lake there? Why are there no signs? How are people supposed to know?"
This site does stories like this every Monday. They are hilarious. Especially the last one.
