Nebraska Baseball Looks to Clinch Series Against Purdue

After getting a sloppy win on Saturday, Nebraska looks to clinch the series Sunday afternoon.

The Nebraska Baseball team gets back on the diamond Sunday afternoon looking to clinch the series against the Purdue Boilermakers. Nebraska also has a chance to secure a place in the BIG tournament with a win and a series of losses by Minnesota, Penn State, and Northwestern.

Nebraska will look to send Kyle Kubat out in fashion as he goes for his 20th win in a Husker uniform. Kubat had trouble last weekend as he allowed five runs against Northwestern taking the loss. Kubat would become the first member of the 20 win club since Johnny Dorn did so in 2008.

In order for Kubat to pick up the win, Nebraska will need to cut down on the errors. Nebraska had 3 errors yesterday, marking the second time this season the Nebraska had won a game with three errors.

The Nebraska offense picked up for the defense as the Huskers pounded out 13 hits. Ryan Boldt has improved his batting average up to .369 for the Huskers as he has hit .513 in his last 8 games.

Expect Darin Erstad to load up the Husker lineup with left handed hitters once again. Purdue is scheduled to start Gavin Downs who owns an ERA of 7.41 this season.
