After winning their fifth consecutive game, the 23rd ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers Baseball team will look to clinch their weekend series against the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon. Nebraska will look to avoid predicted rain and thunderstorms as they try to win their 20th home contest on the season.
Kyle Kubat is scheduled to start for the Huskers. Kubat will look to get back to attacking hitters, after giving up a season high 11 hits against Minnesota last weekend. Kubat has previously faced the Buckeyes including throwing a complete game last season during the regular season series in Lincoln.
Kubat will be opposed by Travis Lankins. Lankins has had an up and down season shown by his 1-2 record with a 3.83 earned run average. Lankins can struggle with control at times so it will be important for Nebraska hitters to be patient, and pick their chances to attack.
To counter the left handed pitcher on the mound, Darin Erstad has loaded his lineup with left handed hitters. Christian Cox gets another start against the right hander. Cox will look to continue his hot streak of extra base hits.
