The athletic department announced the creation of the Nebraska Athletics Hall Of Fame yesterday. I was surprised at a couple of things.
First, I thought we already had an Athletics Hall of Fame, but it occurred to me that we have a hall of fame for football and not other sports. Second, why hasn't this been done before?
22 athletes were selected as part of the inaugural class:

Early leader for Anchrum? - Nebraska - Scout
"I would like to get out to see Nebraska. I really like how Nebraska always produces great players, especially on the offensive line. They play tough football, I like the conference (Big Ten) they play in, and it is another school I am interest in."
Just Give Him The Darn Ball
"I recently got the USC offer on Friday," he said. "I took a visit there Friday as well. I really liked the facilities and all of the coaches. Before that, I took visits to Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Texas with my 7-on-7 team. They were all great schools and I really liked every one of them, but Nebraska probably stood out the most from that trip because I really like Coach [Mike] Riley. He's a great coach and they have great facilities. I can definitely see myself there. My team will also be visiting Arizona this coming Saturday and Arizona State on Sunday."
NU’s Rachel Martin wins national title in smallbore - Daily Nebraskan: Sports
The Nebraska Rifle team has several reasons to be proud after its fourth place finish at last weekend’s NCAA Championships in Fairbanks, Alaska, but none of them surpass sophomore Rachel Martin, who won the national title in smallbore. The Peralta, New Mexico native is among elite company as she’s only Nebraska’s third national champion in rifle and the first one since 2006. Martin had a qualifying score of 584 in smallbore and a final score of 453.3 to claim her first title, one she’s extremely proud of.
