Nebrasketball Loses 5th Straight to Creighton

Nebraska loses again to Creighton 83-67.

Nebrasketball gets blown out again by Creighton. The Huskers started the game down 19-4. It felt like it was the same story against Creighton, but then Nebraska was able to cut the deficit to six down: 30-36 at half. The Creighton took the game over in the second half, and the blow-out was on.

The final: 83-67.

It was Nebraska's fifth straight loss to Creighton.

The Good

There really wasn't any good in this game. Nebraska was just out played. Period. Andrew White did score 28 points, but that was it. Nebraska just can't seem to beat Creighton. Is it a rivalry? I think so. But if Nebraska can't beat Creighton, then it isn't much of a rivalry. Creighton is just a bad match up for Nebraska. They are tall and can shoot. Creighton lives and dies by the 3 ball. They shot 6-17 from 3. If you would have told me that, I would have felt pretty good. But Creighton shot 52% from the floor and Nebraska only shot 40% from the floor. Tim Miles did get a technical foul in the first half, to get the team going. It didn't make much of a difference.

The Bad

Nebraska came out flat. Sound familiar? 2 years ago, Nebraska was down 38-8 in Omaha against Creighton. It wasn't that bad, but it was pretty close. It is 100% mental for Nebraska against Creighton. It's that simple. Nebraska can't find a way to beat them. Creighton always has a big man and can shoot really well. Nebraska struggles with scoring droughts. That is bad news against a good shooting team. I've learned that basketball is a game of runs. Creighton just had too many long runs in this game. And Nebraska had no answer.

What is next?

It could be a long season for Nebraska. They need to win the rest of their non-conference games to gain some momentum going into conference play. The good news? Nebraska's next five games are at home. They have Indiana and Northwestern at home to start Big Ten Conference play. If they can go on a 5 game win streak heading into the Iowa game on January 5th, the season could turn out to be pretty good. We will have to wait and see.

Nebraska's next game is at home against Rhode Island on December 13th. Tip-off is at 1:00 P.M.
