Rough game last night against Creighton. I was probably as mad and disgusted as I was during any football game this season. Tim Miles team is young, and it's hard being patient for them to come together, but at the start of that game, they were flat out either afraid to do anything to create offense or had no clue as to how to handle Creighton.
Shavon Shields game was very disappointing, as was Tai Webster's until the second half.
Maybe this is going to be Tim Miles' career at Nebraska. Some day build a decent program, but get smoked every time he goes to Omaha to face Creighton.
Changes coming after bowl system reaches record 40 games | College Football
It's amazing, isn't it, that with 40 bowl games nobody saw this coming; THIS being that there are 5-7 teams going to bowl games. Suddenly, people who get paid a fair wage in US Dollars (we assume) are outraged that there are too many bowl games and by golly, they're all going to have to get together somewhere (probably a nice cushy resort in a mountain villa) and talk about just how horrifying the problem is.
"The members are going to have to figure out, what's the purpose of bowl games?" NCAA President Mark Emmert told reporters Wednesday at the IMG Intercollegiate Athletics Forum. "Is it a reward for a successful season or is it just another game that we're going to provide an opportunity for?"
That is what bureaucrats do.
Some fake outrage here after leaders in the NCAA, including conference commissioners and athletic directors, already capitulated on the bowl games. They've let ESPN run wild, basically, and now they act shocked.... well, honestly, there's only a little shock. Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson is upset because Colorado State and Nevada are in the conference, but meeting in the Arizona bowl.
I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Attention spans are shot. Next year we'll probably have 50 bowl games and someone will be outraged because their starters will be playing their second team in Ireland.
They'll still go, of course.
Ohio State's the second easiest place to recruit in the country, per ESPN - Land-Grant Holy Land
Here's how the Big Ten ranked:
2) Ohio State
9) Michigan
18) Penn State
23) Michigan State
33) Maryland
37) Wisconsin
Nebraska was 38th, behind Wisconsin. ESPN's reasoning (without becoming an Insider subscriber) were as follows:
Nebraska has signed just one ESPN 300 player since 2010, and current recruits are aware that most of the program's title-winning tradition dates to before they were born.
It's clear that Nebraska has to get better in this area, although Iowa isn't too far after us, at 41st. Do I think we're behind Maryland? No. I don't think we're behind Wisconsin either, but we still have to get out there and do the work, do the sales.
