Tomorrow is turkey day, Thanksgiving. A day to spend with family and eat way too much. It sounds like there may be an all-day open thread here tomorrow for people to check in and say hi from time to time. So, if you need a reason to stop arguing with Iowa relatives, stop by!
I suppose this is the part where I mention the things I am thankful for. Obviously, I am thankful for my family, especially tall sons that can get things down from high shelves. I am thankful for a freezer (3 actually) full of food so that my biggest worry is what I will make for a meal and not "if" I can make a meal. Friends, good health, and craft beer also make my list. What is on yours?
Big Ten Announces Creation of Rodgers-Dwight Return Specialist of the Year
The Big Ten announced the creation of the Rodgers-Dwight Return Specialist of the Year. Named after former standouts Johnny Rodgers of Nebraska and Tim Dwight of Iowa, the annual trophy will honor the conference’s top performer on kickoff and/or punt returns.
Rodgers and Dwight are scheduled to be recognized during Friday’s Hawkeyes-Cornhuskers game. In addition, all Big Ten trophy namesakes are invited to attend the Big Ten Football Championship Game and 2015 honorees that are present will be recognized at the game on Dec. 5.
A two-time All-American during his career at Nebraska from 1970-72, Rodgers claimed both the Heisman Trophy and Walter Camp Award in 1972 after leading Nebraska to back-to-back national titles in 1970 and 1971. Rodgers was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2000 and earlier this year was named the first-team return specialist on the Football Writers Association of America’s 75th Anniversary All-America Team.
Also of note in the Big Ten's press release is that they are adding a All Big Ten third team to their postseason honors and adding a return specialist to the first, second, third, and honorable mention teams.
